VOLVO STUDIO SHANGHAI
Having recently opened their Studios in Stockholm, Milan and Tokyo, Volvo has planned to establish another showroom in a vibrant part of Shanghai. Following an invited competition, Rötzel Studio was asked to design a space which can not only display Volvo´s newest cars and their features but at the same time embody the qualities of a certain Scandinavian lifestyle. The concept proposes four different areas, each related to one of the conceptually redefined so called nordic elements of Volvo, such as “respecting nature”, “cherish beauty”, “striving for innovation” and “caring for tradition”. All areas are connected by the “Volvo Tree”, whose wooden and metal branches symbolize Volvo´s harmonic symbiosis of nature and technology.
